About Doug
Hailing proudly from the beaches of the Jersey Shore, Doug started with Josh and the band as a fan, yelling in the front row of an Asbury Park bar back in 2003. Not much has changed, thank god.In 2004 however, the fanatic DID jump aboard Team Ritter and was channeled (reformed, really) into running Josh's Street Team, his websites, and a lot more. During the shows, you'll find Doug anywhere and everywhere (look for the glare off his gorgeously shaved head), backstage or in the balcony, in the front row or at the bar.
Doug works hard and plays hard - often getting the two very confused. But he's always there, behind the scenes, probably yelling.
My friends and I first saw you perform when we went to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle a couple summers ago. We were huge Andrew Bird fans, but we had no idea who you were, or what kind of music you made. We were a little skeptical, but our moods improved when a couple sitting on the lawn in front of us asked if we knew who you were, and we said no. they told us we'd love you, and even if we didn't like your music, we would fall in love with you for your poetic lyrics.
ReplyDeleteThey were right. We were hooked from the beginning. We couldn't believe how happy you made the audience. There's nothing better than looking across the crowd and seeing people who are genuinely happy to be alive. carefree.
Since that day, we have been anxiously waiting for the email to come: "next stop seattle." it hasn't come. my friends, my brother, and I are beginning to worry that you'll never come back!
Just wanted to let you know we care, and Seattle is waiting!
I live in Everett,MA .... Are you telling me that at 5:22 Monday afternoon whilst I was deciding what to make for supper, JOSH was a short two cities away practicing??? We could have met up for some KickAss Cupcakes!!!

My daughter and I saw you guys for the first time when you opened for Grace Potter in Burlington several years ago. We went to see Grace, but left as huge JR fans. Since then we've traveled to Montreal and Massachusetts to see you, and are thrilled to be seeing you in Burlington friday. Thanks for coming back to Vermont!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great show last night. :) I was close enough to the front that I got to snag a set list, although Josh went off it quite a few times- luckily, I was also jotting down the set list as it went in the back of a collection of Schiller's essays on aesthetics. ;) I loved hearing all the new songs and it's made me itch for the album even more than before.
